Those Of You Who Have To Help Customers At Your Job, What’s Your Pet Peeve?

By admin Posted in: software

What are your biggest pet peeves?
I work for a manufacturing company, in the office. One of my jobs is to answer the phones and take orders. We sell products to schools and it’s normally a teacher ordering our products. These are my pet peeves when on the phone with a customer:
- They haven’t figured out what they want before they call. They make you wait for 5 mins while they hum and look at our catalog or website.
-They don’t know the shipping address or phone number. Their credit card is in the car and you have to wait while they go get it.
-They speak very soft or like they have a mouth full of marbles. Or they have you on speaker phone and continue to have another conversation going on with someone beside them.
-They complain about the price or the shipping cost or tell you your product sucks.
-They don’t know the model number so they guess and end up ordering the wrong thing.
-They call you every day to see where the package is and complain that it’s taking too long.
It feels good to vent sometimes! Your turn.

Arguing because we don’t take checks. “My check is good. Why can’t you make an exception?” We are a small business who cannot afford bounced checks, nor the fee for check companies. I almost lost my job the other day because of this jerk. “Can’t you call someone?” Like I’m gonna call my boss and say,”Even though we don’t take checks, this guy wants to write a check. He says it’s good.” Old people sometimes don’t have debit cards, but this guy was young enough he should have one and didn’t. Had a credit card, didn’t want to use it. I said, “Why don’t you use it and just write the check to them and mail it?” Nope, didn’t want to do that. I don’t really need my job so I almost said, “Does the world revolve around you? What makes you so special we have to take YOUR check, but tell everyone else no? Grow up.” I probably wouldn’t have gotten fired, because I’m the best employee there, but like I said, don’t care either way.
