My brother downloaded some games on the desktop computer. He pretty
much owns that computer unless I need to print things.
It’s a Windows Vista. Today, I turned on the computer and it notifies me
that the computer is infected with 18 viruses, including backdoor and such.
We tried system recovery but it wouldn’t let us. Next, we tried a factory reset but
something popped up not letting us do it (Error 100a). I tried going on the internet but
this “Shield Protection” (something like that) kept blocking a bunch of stuff, saying it was
infected or something. The last the I want to do is call a technician. I also do not want to spend
money on a fancy antivirus software. Please help, my dad is gonna flip out if he finds out about this!

There is a program telling you that you are infected, what is the name of the program? The program is the virus.
OK, never mind the name, the removal guide for these rogues is the same, this may not be the exact name of the program, but the removal instructions will be the same, scroll down to the automated removal instructions, and follow exactly as written, has instructions if you can’t get online, read steps 2, and 3 enitrely. All tools needed in the fix are free:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-re…
Maybe it’s the ‘Security Shield’ malware > http://deletemalware.blogspot.com/2010/1…
Reformat your computer.
Then install a free antivirus such as Avira and some anti adware + malware stuff and a firewall.
When you turn on your computer tap f8.. then choose safe mod… after that go online and download an antivirus called ” malwarebytes” free version. Start it up.. update.. then do full scan.. it might take an hour depends how many files you have on your computer. After its done… a log is going to come out.. close that..its gonna tell you that the scan was complete.. click ok…. on the right bottom there will be a button something like ” view history” log or something click that and check all of the things that it shows up.. press delete. and restart your comp. wallaaa! no virus.
